Tesla plans to negotiate a settlement with regulators over the racial harassment case at its California factory

Glonghui January 14th｜Tesla will enter into settlement talks with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) regarding a lawsuit filed by the latter in 2023. The lawsuit accuses Tesla of race-based harassment at its California factory. According to documents submitted to the court by the EEOC on Tuesday, Tesla has agreed to private mediation in this case, which is expected to take place in March or April. The lawsuit alleges that Tesla engaged in "severe or pervasive racial harassment" against Black employees at its Fremont factory and claims that company management unfairly retaliated against employees who filed complaints. Tesla and the EEOC had previously participated in "mandatory mediation" in June 2023, but were unable to reach a resolution.
