UK Culture Minister Engages in Talks with Paramount-SkyDance CEO
Lisa Nandy, the British culture minister, recently held discussions with David Ellison, the chief executive of Paramount-SkyDance, to address matters impacting the United Kingdom’s film and television industry, according to a source who spoke with Reuters.
The conversation, which reportedly took place on Thursday, coincided with Ellison’s efforts to guide Paramount through an intense competition with Warner Bros Discovery.
Notably, the meeting happened on the same day a U.S. judge dismissed Paramount’s attempt to expedite its legal case against Warner Bros. The lawsuit centers on information related to Warner Bros’ proposed sale to Netflix.
Paramount is currently urging Warner Bros shareholders to support its all-cash offer of $30 per share, positioning it as a more attractive alternative to Netflix’s mixed cash-and-stock proposal. In addition, Paramount has taken steps to nominate new board members at Warner Bros to encourage further negotiations.
