Looking forward to some time off? The 2026 trading holiday calendar is about to kick off next week.
Both the stock and bond markets will observe their first closure since New Year's Day on Monday, January 19, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This federal holiday, which celebrates the legacy of the civil rights icon, falls on the third Monday of January, though King's actual birthday is January 15. Markets will reopen for regular trading on Tuesday.
Key Market Closures Through Early Summer 2026
- Monday, February 16 (Presidents' Day/George Washington's Birthday): Stock and bond markets will be closed.
- Friday, April 3 (Good Friday): Stock markets will be closed, and bond markets will close early at noon.
- Monday, May 25 (Memorial Day): Both stock and bond markets will be closed. Additionally, bond markets will close early at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 22.
Additional market holidays, beginning with Juneteenth, are scheduled later in 2026.
