Serum is a decentralized exchange (DEX) on the Solana blockchain. It is one of the most widely-used and notable dapp on Solana.
It was created in 2020 by the Serum Foundation, a consortium of blockchain experts consisting of Solana Foundation, FTX, and Alameda Research. With such strong support in both tech and capital, Serum has claimed to bring the high liquidity, high speed, and low transaction cost of CEX to DEX.
How Serum (SRM) Works
Unlike most DEXes where users trade with liquidity pools, Serum has decentralized on-chain order books. The Asset Agnostic Order Books of Serum allows multiple financial instruments of any assets on Solana. Users can execute spots, options, futures, borrow lending positions, and so much more.
