French regulator warns that some crypto companies have not responded to MiCA license application requirements
The French market regulator has issued a warning that, as the EU Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) transition period is set to end on June 30, 2026, nearly one-third of the approximately 90 registered crypto companies in France without a MiCA license have yet to inform the regulator of their plans. Stephane Pontoizeau, Executive Director of the AMF's Market Intermediaries and Infrastructure Supervision Department, stated that currently 30% of companies have applied for a license, 40% have decided not to apply, and the remaining 30% have neither disclosed their plans nor responded to inquiries. According to the requirements of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), companies without MiCA authorization must implement an "orderly wind-down plan" before the end of the transition period. At present, certain exchanges, Circle, and Revolut have already obtained MiCA licenses.
